The employees of Amazon.co.uk are filmed by surveillance cameras during their work. They have two pauses of 15 and 20 minutes per day and must ask the permission to go to the toilets. The hourly wage is 9% higher than the legal minimum. For each day off because of disease, even with a doctor's certificate, the employee receives a point of penalty. After 6 points, the employee is laid off. “The largest online retailer in the United Kingdom for the period of Christmas pushes his employees to work seven days out of seven and threatens them with layoff if they fall sick” wrote the Sunday Times.: United Kingdom
