Closure/Bankruptcy: Abitibi announced the permanent closure of its paper factories with Shawinigan (Quebec), Dalhousie (New Brunswick), Thunder Bay (Ontario) and Lufkin (Texas) and, for one undetermined period, its factories of Donnacona (Quebec) and Mackenzie (Colombia-British) and as well as two sawmills in the same city of the Canadian west. AbitibiBowater required of its employees syndicated in Canada "to reopen the collective agreements into force" in order to "find ways of reducing the total costs of labour" and "of ensuring a greater flexibility" of work.: Canada
