2007 | United States of America : U.S. Steel Corp. will spend about $76 million to clean up air pollution violations at its Clairton coke plant under an agreement with the Allegheny County Health Department. U.S. Steel will pay a $395,000 fine into Allegheny County's Clean Air Fund to settle past violations, and pay penalties for visible emission violations recorded by its continuous smoke monitor during terms of the agreement. The steelmaker must complete a $70,000 supplemental environmental project to control dust from roads in the plant. | AP |
