2008Spain : A radioactive leak has occurred in November 2007 during a maintenance operation of the power station of Asco in Catalonia. 800 people - employees, visitors or residents -, will be the subject of medical analyses to check that they were not seriously exposed to radiations. The direction of the nuclear thermal power plant had revealed the incident on April 4, 2008, whereas it has been aware of it as early as of March 14. The director, Rafael Gasca, and the chief of the radiological protection service, Françesc Gonzalez Tardiu, were revoked to have minimized the radioactive leak.AFP
