The president de Wahaha, Zong Qinghou, "did not state the whole of his incomes to the tax department during several years". He is the subject of an investigation for tax avoidance from 42,9 million dollars.

After investigation, Danone discovers a series of companies created by the Wahaha president, Zong Qinghou, not appearing in the common accounts of the Danone-Wahaha joint-venture, but exploiting the same market and the same brand as the joint-venture. Danone considers its loss of earnings to 100 million dollars.
