2008 |
The French Competition council imposed a total fine of 8 million euros to six plywood manufacturers “for having set up common prices” and having coordinated price increases during nine years. The “dialogue” on the price rises was organized between 1995 and 2004. “Nearly 70% of the exotic plywood sales in France were concerned by this practice”, estimates the Council of competition. The heaviest fine (4,24 million; euros) was inflicted to the Plysorol company. The companies Jean Thébault, Rougier Panels and establishments A. Mathé, Guy Joubert and Allin will pay out sanctions going of 260.800 euros to 1,5 million; euros. Finnish UPM-Kymmene, also blamed, was exonerated from financial sanctions "for having blown the whistle on the existence of the cartel”. |
