: November 21, 1996, Genset deposited an patent application concerning the potential implication several chromosomal areas in the cancer of the prostate, while being based on simple statistical studies. The objective is to then affirm its rights in the gene patent of predisposition to the cancer of the prostate, and which will be one day discovered in the patented areas. The claims of Genset are dangerous, their acceptance being likely to involve the whole hang-up of research, or the multiplication of the lawsuit between parts affirming each one its rights on the genetic discovery.:
